Steve King is well qualified to advise most anyone who is confused by all the choices available in kitchen design and products in today’s market. He will troubleshoot designs and assist with product choices, as well as helping to arrange competent cabinet installation.
Steve began his career in residential cabinetry in the mid 1970’s in Phoenix, AZ, as part of the management team for American Kitchens, a Merillat cabinet distributor. Moving back to his native New Mexico in 1993, he managed a small retail cabinet showroom for about a year. He started Davis Kitchens in Albuquerque in 1994, and grew the business to become one of the largest cabinet distributors in the state. In late 2021 he sold Davis Kitchens and retired from the company in 2023.
During his nearly 50-year career in the cabinet industry, Steve expanded his knowledge of kitchen remodeling through both experience and continuing education. He is a Certified Kitchen and Bath Remodeler (CKBR, issued by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry), and earned several designations from the National Association of Home Builders, namely Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR), Certified Green Professional (CGP), and Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS). In addition, Steve held a New Mexico GB-2 contractor’s license for almost 30 years.
